I love the Seattle Sockeyes series and Penalty Play was really good. It is fun and fast paced with enough steam to melt the ice.

Matt is a single dad to 2 boys. His focus in life has become his boys and hockey ever since his wife just took off and left him. He is looking for a nice conservative woman to help him raise his boys. He gets involved with Vi who is far from conservative. He has Vi help him out with his boys when his mom leaves to go on a girls trip and winds up getting into bed with her.

Vi is a colorful character who is running from her past. She wants to become a better person and concentrate on her passion of dancing. She is not interested in becoming a mom just yet but Matt's boys begin to grow on her. She wants to keep her past in the past but when the truth comes out about who she really is she has tough decisions to make where she and Matt are concerned. Matt and Vi have great chemistry and great banter back and fourth. I love these two together and love how the boys grow on Vi and how Vi grows on the boys.

Penalty Play Game On in Seattle Seattle Sockeyes Book 6 edition by Jami Davenport Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book! I LOVE all of the Seattle Sockeyes books! This one did not disappoint either! I enjoyed the story of Matt and Vi and all the ups and downs and in betweens! I love books that also have characters from other books so that we can keep up with them also. I would thoroughly recommend this book to any hockey lovers, series lovers or sports lovers. Great Read!
Penalty Play is a solid 4.5 star read which I rounded up to 5 for . I loved this opposites attract story that was filled with emotion, compromise, revelations, mutual respect, admiration, and some supremely sexy times. I loved that this couple didn't fall for one another right away that they went into a quasi-friends-with-benefits relationship, but the more time they were together the more they realized they wanted more. There were some problems, the heroine has a lot of baggage and the hero has an ex-wife who likes to play games, but through it all along with his two young sons they weather the storm. Overall, I was very pleased with the way these characters were developed, the plot which had multiple layers, and the more than satisfying ending. Well done!
Worth the wait. Loved the characters and the meaning behind them. Jami took a girl who was struggling in every sense and gave her an attitude to survive her past and present. This character gives me hope that no matter the situation if you hold your head high own who you are and do the right thing good will prevail. Matt hmm what’s to say about him. All people change or can change when the right person is out into there life. These characters are great examples of the saying. You know when you know. There isn’t a set mold as to why your life partner will be. You can’t conjure up a make believe image and hope that person exists. When they walk into your life your partner list will fly out the window anyway. Love the story line and the new chances and new beginnings. . .
Penalty Play was Jami Davenport’s ninth book in the Game On in Seattle series.

Matt LaRue was a defenseman for the Seattle Sockeyes NHL team, single father of two boys and ultra conservative. Violet “Vi” Strider was delightfully quirky, a student, dancer and a total free spirit.

Matt and Vi met through Amelia and Brick (Goaltending, book eight). They were complete opposites, annoyed each other like crazy and had an off the charts chemistry that exploded on contact.

Davenport took us through the relationship, pretty much as expected. Matt had a puck bunny ex-wife and was only interested in someone new that was simple, steady, flew under the radar and was church choir material for the boys. Everything that Vi wasn’t. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline but desired seeing some of the conflicts fleshed out a more at the conclusion.

All in all, it was entertaining and a pretty quick read. I’m not sure what Davenport has in store for us next, but it looks like we’ll see more from Rod in the future - maybe with Steph. Either way, I look forward to seeing where she takes us.
If you love hockey and you love single dad romance then you will truly love this book. Matt and Vi just wow with the chemistry. They say their is a fine line between love and hate and yep they blow the chemistry out of the water. Being somewhat opposites I love how they bicker. I love Vi and how she isn't afraid to speak her mind and let her emotions lead her. Matt is a wonderful father and hot hockey player. I love how he gives in to Vi. Can I just say hello hotness. Both are trying to move on from their past. Being so different helped heal them and push them both. I love this Game on Series. Jami Davenport writes a hell of an amazing hockey romance. One of my favorite hockey series to date. I can't wait for more of the men of the Sockeyes.
Welcome back to Seattle Sockeye Hockey. Jami Davenport is giving us another great installment of this wonderful series. We are now getting the story of Matt LaRue, A Single Dad, A Conservative Man looking for a woman to share his life with but when one woman catches his eye she is the furthest one he would ever see himself with.
Violet Strider a young woman looking to get her life back on track. Going to college, hopefully a new career, but when you meet a man that is your total opposite you can’t help to hit the pause button.
Two of the most opposite people find that the attraction can’t be helped. There will be a tremendous amount of hurdles they will have to overcome, between past events, past exes, and everything else in between. But when the pull is there you can’t help fight what you feel is right. You will cheer this couple on from the beginning there might be a lot to over come but you will enjoy the journey it will take them to get there.
Three other people in Matt & Vi’s story are just as important. Matt’s two sons Andy & Joey and even Irene, Matt’s Mom. They all bring a lot of fun moments to the story and just make it that much better.
